J. Corey
Dave Corey has practiced law since 1997 and has been a civil litigator
since 1999. Since 2003, Dave's practice has heavily emphasized the
defense of physicians, hospitals, and other health care providers
against claims of medical malpractice. He also frequently represents
physicians in professional disciplinary proceedings before Washington’s
Medical Quality Assurance Commission. He was named a 'Rising Star'
by WL&P, a predominantly peer-nominated honor, in 2005, 2006,
2008, and 2009. Dave joined Floyd, Pflueger & Ringer in January
2008 and is a partner of the firm.
Dave also has extensive experience in complex commercial litigation
and previously worked as a criminal prosecutor for the City of Tacoma.
His trial experience includes a dozen medical malpractice and complex
commercial trials, as well as approximately 65 criminal trials.
He completed the trial advocacy program with the National Institute
for Trial Advocacy in 1998. He has also arbitrated numerous cases
and, for the past several years, has served as an arbitrator for
the King County Superior Court mandatory arbitration program.
In addition to trial practice, Dave has briefed and argued approximately
twenty appeals, including an appearance before the Ninth Circuit
Court of Appeals. He has been involved in four published appellate
decisions: Durham v. Tacoma , 95 Wn. App. 876 (1999); Sackett v.
Santilli , 146 Wn.2d 498 (2002); Bartley-Williams v. Kendall , 134
Wn. App. 95 (2006); and Ambach v. French , 141 Wn. App. 782 (2007).
Dave is a 1996 graduate of the Seattle University School of Law.
He did his undergraduate work at the University of Denver (B.A.,
political science, 1993), where he was also the captain of the varsity
swim team and a 1990 NAIA All-America selection. Since retiring
from competitive swimming, Dave has coached extensively at the high
school and summer league levels.
Dave is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of
Washington and Alaska . He is a member of the state bar associations
of Washington and Alaska, the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers,
and the Defense Research Institute.
